AS 3678 K1042 / K1045 steel is a medium carbon steel. This steel is easily machined and can be either induction hardened or flame hardened. K1042/1045 steel plates adhere to AS/NZS 3678, which determines the material and welding standards of structural steel as well a shot-rolled plates, floor plates and slabs.Commonly used in a range of industry sectors, the properties of K1045 steel make it ideal for applications that require a reasonable amount of strength and wear resistance. As a result, items such as axles, bolts, rods, hydraulic clamps, pins, rolls, studs, shafts and spindles are often constructed using 1045 steel.
