Choosing the Right Steel Plate Stock

For excellent weldability, formability and toughness, Hardox 450 steel delivers an excellent performance, while Weldox 700 steel offers outstanding strength. We also offer k1045 steel that’s heat treatable and hard wearing, as well as boiler plate steel that’s ideal for low to moderate temperature applications.

Steel plate thickness varies greatly. You could go from a 3mm steel plate  up to 410mm thickness.

Steel Plate Grades

Each steel plate product is given a grade number, ascribed to it due to the certain characteristics it possesses. G250 steel, for example, comes in two forms; either in pattern plate form or in coil form. In coil form, G250 steel can be produced in thicknesses up to 25mm, while in pattern plate form it can be produced up to 410mm thick. Q&T 80 A structural steel plate with a nominal yield strength of 690MPa and a nominal hardness of 255HB. Transport equipment, mining equipment, high rise buildings & excavators. Excellent notch toughness. Good weldability. Good formability
Q&T 450 A through hardened, abrasion resistant steel plate, offering long life expectancy in impact abrasion applications with a nominal hardness of 450HB. Wear liners, earthmoving buckets, storage bins, gear wheels & excavator loader arms. High hardness. Can be gas cut. Fully weldable. Good formability.
KI045 A heat treatable plate for general engineering applications. General engineering parts, profile cut gears, wear/abrasion applications. Abrasion / Wear properties on heat treatment
BOILER Fine grained, carbon manganese steel with a minimum tensile strength of 460 MPa. Stocked thickness: 5mm-160mm. Boiler & pressure vessel applications. Guaranteed tensile strength levels with excellent weldability and formability. International standards also available.
