Bis 80

Bisalloy 80 High Strength Structural Steel

Bisalloy 80 is a high-strength, low-alloy structural steel with a yield stress three times greater than that of carbon steel. It therefore boasts optimum toughness, hardness, density, formability and weldability.

Utilising the high-strength steel properties of BIS 80 allows section thickness to be reduced whilst maintaining structural integrity. The strength advantage of BIS 80 also means equipment can be manufactured with an overall lighter structural steel weight without sacrificing structural strength. This has been realised in a number of applications, including:

  • Transport equipment (low loaders)
  • Lifting equipment (mobile cranes/container handling equipment)
  • Mining equipment (dump truck trays/longwall roof supports)
  • High-rise buildings (columns)
  • Bridges
  • Excavator buckets
  • Storage tanks
  • Induced draft fans

BISPLATE’s structural steel grades make it possible to build taller towers, specify smaller columns, and span larger rooms – whilst simultaneously reducing the amount of steel required. This reduced frame weight enables cost savings for foundations, fabrication and construction.
